Weekend Away

Hi Folks. Ready for the next instalment?
We had an amazing weekend away. We left Saturday morning for a two hour drive down to Turangi. We had a coffee and a snack and then had a lovely walk by Tongariro River and watched some chaps fishing for Trout. Then we had a game of Crazy Golf and lastly relaxed in Tokaanu Thermal Hot Pools.

On Sunday we got up early as we has lost an hour due to the clocks going forward, had a big grilled breakfast and headed to the mountains and Whakapapa Ski Resort. The first sight of Mt Tongariro took our breath away. The landscape was amazing and reminded us all that we are living in an incredible country. We had a fantastic day sledging and rolling around in the snow. The boys informed me that they would like to go every day! After a good 5 hours play, we headed to Lake Taupo and enjoyed a Subway Sarnie before heading home tired but rejuvenated.

Waikato Uni V Cambridge Uni (UK)

We went down to Hamilton today to watch the boat race between these two teams. It was a great free, fun day out. No parking charges, no admission charge etc. We sang both National Anthems and discovered the boys knew the words to the NZ more than UK. Joe then felt quite upset that he never once got to sing the National Anthem in UK school, both boys sing the NZ anthem more than once a week. We cheered on Cambridge and they led most of the way but were pipped at the post by Waikato.

Who is Joe taking after?

Dad, are you proud of Joe? He seems to be enjoying mowing as much as you. As you can imagine Paul was only too happy to allow Joe to do this job!

Semi Finals

On Saturday Fraser played Football at a tournament and made it to the semi finals. They did really well. The Sun shone all day but the wind had a chill in it. We wore our jumpers but realised when we got home that we had all caught the sun, note to be careful here in the NZ sun.
